SRINAGAR, Oct 6: Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) of state government employees today threatened to launch a state wide agitation if its leaders were not released at the earliest.
The leaders were arrested by police during raids and action against protestors during the five day long protest programme.
“We have 18 employees’ leaders detained at central jail and 60 at district police lines Srinagar,” said Farooq Ahmad Trali adding that JCC will offer mass arrests voluntarily if its leaders continue to remain detained. He appealed the government to release all leaders so that talks are held.
The JCC is likely to take the final decision on its future strategy tomorrow.
Meanwhile, senior Congress leader and minister Taj Mohi-u-Din today said the stubbornness of the employees’ leaders is compelling the government to impose Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) in the state.
Talking to KNS, Taj said that the strike affects common masses at large and people suffer due to this move across the state. ”We have the right to impose ESMA in the state and the decision has been taken by cabinet that the employees’ who desist from discharging their duties shall be dealt strictly,” he said adding that employees’ leadership is mishandling its authority.
Taj further stated that the government had invited employees’ leaders for negotiations on table but time and again they seem to be reluctant in resolving the issues amicably. “The doors for the negotiations are open. We want employees to settle down the issues on table than on streets.”
Meanwhile, Joint Consultative Committee The meeting convened by the JCC here this evening decided that it would launch a state wide agitation if its leaders are not released at the earliest.
“We have 18 employees’ leaders detained at central jail and 60 at district police lines Srinagar,” said Farooq Ahmad Trali adding that JCC will offer wide spread arrests voluntarily if its leaders continue to remain detained.
The JCC is likely to take the final decision on its future strategy on October 7.
