RAJOURI, Oct 6: Rajouri town today observed complete bandh over the alleged incident of assault on the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) activists by some miscreants on October 4 and the arrest of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) district vice president Mohin Munna by the police.
In the meanwhile, Santan Dharam Sabha (SDS) and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Rajouri units today extended the bandh for an indefinite period.
The decision for indefinite bandh was taken today by the SDS and VHP after a meeting with the local traders, social, political and the religious organizations at SDS office Rajouri.
Addressing the representatives of various organizations, SDS Rajouri district president Dinesh Sharma accused the police and the district administration of “patronizing the anti-social elements which assaulted youth attending to the RSS Shakha.”
He alleged some miscreants assaulted the RSS volunteers and thrashed them. “Following it, few youth also resorted to stone-pelting on the houses of minority community in which a woman, Poonam, wife of Rajesh, a local shopkeeper, was injured. During this period, some police cops reached the spot but failed to take any action against the miscreants. Later the police refused to register the case and instead it lodged an FIR against the youth from minority community including a ninth class student and an eminent social worker under section 307,” he alleged.
VHP state secretary Rajeev Rotra, district president Sat Pal and general secretary Yugvir demanded immediate arrest of all the culprits involved in assaulting the RSS volunteers.
SDS and VHP Rajouri demanded the immediate arrest of all the miscreants involved in assault, immediate release of BJYM district vice president Mohin Munna and withdrawal of all the cases registered against the youth of minority community by the police.
The representatives of all the organizations, who attended the meeting, unanimously resolved to support the indefinite bandh called by SDS and VHP till their demands were not conceded.
In the meanwhile the representatives of majority community stated that the clash in Rajouri was not about land or Ramlila ground but was a simple fight over a trivial issue which was being given communal colour by saffron brigade.
“The police registered case FIR No 521 under Sections 307, 452, 323, 295, 34 against son of BJP state secretary Vibodh Gupta and other BJP Yuva Morcha activists for attacking and injuring other boys. One youth Mohin Khajuria has been arrested,” they added.
