Lamhon ne khata ki thi…..!
ActIT Jammu, Projects, Java,, C# Training Jammu
Dear Editor,

While appreciating the sentiments expressed by Mr. Krishan Singh in his above captioned letter (KT September 22), I would like to invite Singh’s attention to rectify the first line of the most popular

Urdu couplet which he has aptly quoted in his aforesaid letter. The correct and authenticated version of the couplet is:

“Yeh jabr bhi dekha hai tareekh ki nazron ne

Lamhon ne khata ki thi sadiyon ne saza payee”.

Interestingly, the same Urdu couplet was quoted by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to silence the opponents of his government’s policies while facing a no-confidence motion in the Parliament. Giving currency to the correct version of such oft-quoted couplet will be the best tribute to the creator of this exceptionally popular Urdu couplet, Muzaffar Razmi who passed away at his home town Kerana, in Muzaffar Nagar UP only last week.

Another glaring factual error that has been noted in the text of the letter in question can easily be attributed to the proof reading or typing mistake because it is a common knowledge that the East India Company set its foot on the Indian soil some 250 years ago and not half a century back as has been mentioned therein.
