Traders Meet at Chakan Da Bagh, 98 traders participate

POONCH, Apr 2: Traders of both sides of divided Jammu and Kashmir today settled their accounts in the first trader’s meet of this year. This meet was organized by authorities of both sides after more than six months due to hostile relations between both armies after beheading of two Indian troops allegedly by Pakistan army in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch.
A total of fifteen disputed cases were settled by mutual understanding of the traders during the traders meet, said Pawan Anand president Cross LoC Traders Association, adding that the meeting was conducted peacefully and traders of both sides have decided to conduct traders meet in the first week every month to settle the accounts as the traders have limited mode of communication.
The meeting was organized in a peaceful atmosphere under the supervision of Anwar Hussain Shah ADC Poonch and Krishan Lal Custodian cross LoC trade while Sayed Maqsood Shah ADC Hazeera and Incharge Trade and travel Rawlakot supervised traders meet from PAK side. A total of 98 traders including 41 from Indian side and 57 traders from PAK side participated in the traders meet.
It is pertinent to mention here that last week Indian traders have submitted a list of more than thirty five defaulter traders to PAK authorities while PAK traders submitted a list of fifty-four Indian defaulter traders.
Indian administration brought near about 9 defaulter traders against 54 demanded by PAK authorities on behalf of their traders while PAK brought 7 defaulter traders against 35 demanded by Indian authorities on behalf of Indian traders.
First time after start of this Cross LoC Trade, administration of both sides of divided Jammu & Kashmir decides to constitute a strategy to resolve disputes, tomorrow Custodian of both sides will float minutes of this traders meet and cases settled in this trader’s meet after that these cases were forcibly implemented by district administration of both sides.
Official reports said that more than fifteen traders settled their account which was pending from last more than one year. Krishan Lal Custodian Cross LoC Trade said the officials of both sides have constituted a strategy to resolve disputes among traders and within few months all disputes among traders were settled down.
Traders of both sides demanded enhancement in the list of 21 items for Cross LoC trade which was decided to be enhanced last year by the authorities but instead of enhancing the authorities of both sides banned all items on the excuse of their packing or some others reasons. They said that now Cross LoC trade was carried with only few items including red chillies, bananas, almonds and herbs. They added that they are carrying forward this trade just to improve our relations with PAK traders and not to earn profit.
Traders decided to conduct traders meet every month.
The meeting started at 12. 33 AM and closed at 3.05 PM.
