CCBL Board of Directors’ elections: Former chairman, panel declared elected

JAMMU, Sept 18: Former Chairman Citizens Co-operative Bank Ltd (CCBL) Dinesh Gupta along with his panel of other eight members today emerged victorious in the elections for the Board of Directors CCBL.
The results of the elections, which were conducted yesterday, were announced today by
the Returning Officer.
The nine members declared elected to be part of Board of Directors included former CCBL chairman Dinesh Gupta who bagged 2,712 votes, Deepak Gupta (2,406 votes), Koushal Kumar Gupta (2,323 votes), Praveen Kumar Sharma (2,174 votes), Kailash Langar (2,041 votes), Purshotam Singh (1,970 votes), Charanjit Singh Raina (1,926 votes), Virender Singh (1,717 votes) and Karunesh Gupta (1,674 votes). This panel defeated the panel led by Rajiv `Chunni.’
All the four independent candidates viz., Balbir Singh Manhas, Rakesh Sharma, Ramakant Khajuria and former Mayor Narinder Singh too lost the contest.
There were 22 candidates, including four independents, in the fray for the election for Board of Directors of the bank.
Out of 18,000 voters, only 4400 members polled their votes with a voting percentage of 23 percent.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Rohit Khajuria acted as Returning Officer.
The counting started at 9 AM at Jammu Yatri Bhawan for which the tight security arrangements were put in place.
All the contestants remained present throughout counting process.
Later talking to media persons, one of the elected candidates said that the elected members would nominate the Chairman of Bank. The nominated chairman would look after the welfare and functioning of the banks operating across the state, he said.
