3 more witnesses depose before IO

SRINAGAR, Sep 21: Three more witnesses into the two separate firing incidents in whichfive persons were killed in Gagran area of Shopian today recorded their statements before the magisterial inquiry officer.
Four persons were killed in what the locals say unprovoked CRPF firing on September 7 and one person on September 11. The government ordered magisterial inquiry into the two incidents and appointed Deputy Commissioner, Shopian as inquiry officer. Though for first three days after the inquiry was started no witness turned up to record his statement, however on fourth day five persons came forward and deposed before the inquiry officer.
However, sources said that, on the seventh day of inquiry today three
more witnesses turned up and recorded their statements. They, however, refused to divulge the details as to what the witnesses revealed before the inquiry officer.
“Yes three more witnesses today visited my office and recorded their statements with regard to the firing incident. With the three witnesses, who deposed today the number of people having recorded their statements so far has reached eight,” the inquiry officer said.
He said that they since they have extended the date for the statement recording more will come forward in days to come. “The date for the recording of statements has been extended by a week. Now the witnesses can come up to 28th to share whatever they know about the two incidents. I hope more people will depose in coming days,” the inquiry officer said.
He also refused to share what the witnesses have recorded. “We cannot share anything till the inquiry is completed. Once we finish the inquiry everything will come to fore,” DC said.
