CHANDERKOTE (RAMBAN), Sept 8: Waning graph of UPA-II on account of unprecedented economic crisis, corruption seemingly was on the mind of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah as he expressed apprehensions vis-à-vis change of guard at the Centre in the ensuing parliamentary polls yet again on Sunday.
“God forbid if there is a government at the Centre unfriendly towards Jammu and Kashmir, the state would be in deep trouble,” Omar said.
His anxiety came out in public as he was sharing concern over grim financial status of state.
“We have total annual income of only Rs 6500 Cr from all sources while we have to pay Rs 13500 Cr salary to employees, Rs 2000 Cr to pensioners and our electricity loss amounts to another Rs 2000 Cr annually. In this situation we have to remain totally dependent on central assistance,” he said.
In the same breath, he thanked UPA government for extending all help to the state and said, “God forbid, if there is a government at the Centre unfriendly towards Jammu and Kashmir, the state would be in deep trouble.”
Earlier on June 25, 2013, in Kishtwar, Omar had expressed similar apprehension about the change of guard at the Centre in the presence of the UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.
While addressing the public rally at Chowgan Ground of Kishtwar where the
Prime Minister and UPA Chairperson had laid the foundation stone of Ratle
Hydro Electric Project on June 25, Omar’s apprehension had found an expression as he was advocating the return of Dulhasti power project to J&K.
“Khuda Na Khaasta Aisa Din Aa Jaye Jab Kay Dilli Mein Aisi Hukumat Ho Jo Riyasat Kay Liye Dostana Rishta Apnaana Na Chahey, Jo Iss Riyasat Ko Tang Karna Chahe
Hamare Saarey Kaam Ruk Jaayengay…(….God forbid, if a day comes, when at the helm of affairs in the Centre is a ruling dispensation which may not be friendly to the state of J&K…which may create troubles for the state, all our projects would be stalled..),” Omar had stated.
