Boy killed in Gandoh mishap, 20 injured

JAMMU, Sep 2: A boy was killed while 20 persons were injured in three different road mishaps in Gandoh, Bhaderwah and Mendhar areas, today
Reports from Doda and Gandoh said that accidents in Gandoh continued on the second consecutive today with another accident took place just few meters away from Sub-Division Head Quarter Gandoh. One person died and 11 others got injured when an ill-fated TATA Sumo bearing registration number JK14- 8757, on its way from Chounwari to Gandoh, fell into 70 feet deep gorge few meters short of its destination.
The deceased in the accident has been identified as Shanawaz Ahmed, son of Rehamtullah of Bhargi, Gandoh.
Six injured out of eleven who have been referred to District Hospital (DH) Doda, for specialized treatment have been identified as Noor Mohammad, son of Mohammad Ibharim of Kandoloo Gandoh, Raksha Devi daughter of Sunil Kumar of Darie, Zahir Abass son of Abdul Aziz of Challar, Zahir Abass son of Rehmutala of Darie, Om Raj son of Dari of Kansar and Feroz Din, son of Shair of Aganool.
Five persons, with minor injuries, have been admitted to SDH Gandoh and were identified as Anjum Mubeen daughter of Rahmutala of Bhargi, Naseema Bagum wife of Surfaz of Anganool, Baby daughter of Surfaz of Anganool and driver of the vehicle Ravi Kumar son of Paras Ram of Kharangal.
This is the second consecutive accident due to negligence of driver and rash driving by inexperienced drivers. Within minutes of the accident, people from the surrounding areas rushed to the spot and started rescue operation. Since the accident spot was close to the head quarter within minutes Koshal Kumar SDPO Gandoh and Lal Hussain Incharge SHO Police Station Gandoh reached the spot along with police personal who did a commendable job in the rescue operation.
It was only due to the timely efforts of police and quick first aid by the medical Staff of SDH Gandoh that the life of the injured persons could be saved.
It is pertinent to mention here that there is no check on overloading or rash driving in the area. The vehicles are being driven by inexperienced drivers who don’t even possess driving license and none of the traffic personnel is seen in the area to check all these habitual violators. People alleged deliberate negligence of the concerned traffic officials who, they said, pay no heed to the hue and cry of people and frequent accidents. People demanded immediate action in this regard.
The erring driver has been identified as Ravi Kumar, resident of Kharangal village of Gandoh.
Yesterday a tractor fell on Gandoh-Gwari road and there was a fatal causality in that too.
Reports from Bhaderwah said that seven persons were injured in a Matador and TATA Sumo collision on Bhaderwah-Chinta road Sunday. As per reports, TATA Sumo bearing number JK06-7601 were on its way from Bhaderwah to Chinta but at Nakshri village it collided with matador bearing registration number JK 02 AA-6421.
All the passengers of the Sumo got injured in the accident. Locals and police started the rescue operation and send the injured to the SDH Hospital Bhaderwah.
The injured were identified as Misra Begum wife of Abdul Latief of Manwa, Rekha Devi wife of Sardari Lal of Bhouda, Dhani Ram son of Salak Ram of Nouri Hanga, Pyara Devi wife of Duni Lal of Hanga, Kanta Devi wife of Daya Krishan of Hanga, Bala Devi wife of Dina Nath of Sinoo Gandoh and Rajesh Kumar son of Jeewan Lal of Bhalra.
All the injured were discharged after first-aid in the hospital except Misra Begum.
Reports from Mendhar said that two army jawans were injured when the vehicle of 49 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) met with an accident 7 kilometer short of Bhimber Gali (BG) Headquarter in Mendhar. The ill-fated vehicle was on its way from Mendhar to BG when the driver lost his control due to slippery road condition and the vehicle fell into deep gorge.
The injured jawans were shifted to 150 GH Rajouri for treatment.
