Ceasefire violation at Poonch, Pallanwalla

JAMMU, Aug 30: After a two-day lull, army today claimed that Pakistan again violated ceasefire by targeting forward posts along the LoC in Jammu district and Poonch district, drawing retaliation from Indian forces.
Reports from Poonch said that Pakistani troops of 645 Mujahid Regiment opened indiscriminate small and medium arms firing in Sawjian Sector of Poonch district last night. Pakistani troops targeted forwards Indian Posts Kanari and 2029 in Sawzian from their NPP Post using small and medium arms at 8.50 PM. The firing continued till 9.45 PM which was effectively retaliated using equal caliber.
No loss of life or injury was reported in the firing.
In another incident, Pakistani troops opened fire in Pallanwala sub-sector in Jammu district, late last night.
"Pakistan Army opened indiscriminate and unprovoked firing on forward posts along the LoC in Pallanwala sub-sector in Jammu district around 2330 hours last night," a senior Army officer said today.
Pakistan Army fired from small and automatic weapons on the forward posts along LoC. Indian troops guarding the borderline used similar caliber weapons and strongly retaliated, triggering fierce exchanges, which continued till midnight last night, he said.
There was no loss of life or injury to anyone in the fresh firing.
Pakistani troops had violated the ceasefire on August 27 by firing on Indian posts along LoC in Bhimber Gali sub-sector of Poonch district. There has almost been daily firing and mortar shelling by Pakistani Army in the Poonch-Rajouri sector since August 6 with a total of over 30 ceasefire violations recorded this month.
Six jawans have been killed and 10 injured in ceasefire violations and firing by Pakistan troops on forward posts, civilian areas and patrolling parties along the Indo-Pak border in August.
