MIRPUR (PAK), Aug 28: As a result of ongoing escalation of tension on the Line of Control (LOC) due to frequent unprovoked firing by troops from across the LoC, the scheduled visit of traders delegation from Jammu & Kashmir to Pakistan Administered Kashmir (PAK) has been delayed, AJK CCI announced.
The traders’ delegation from Srinagar and Jammu cities of Jammu & Kashmir was scheduled to cross the LoC on Wednesday through weekly trans-LoC Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus to commence the visit of Muzaffarabad and Mirpur, the major business hubs of PAK to exchange ideas with their local counterparts from PAK for promotion of the cross-LoC trade between traders of both sides of divided Kashmir besides other matters of mutual interests.
“Yes, the visit of the J&K trade delegation has been delayed due to the tense situation along LoC and the reported current strange relations between Islamabad and New Delhi,” said Muhammad Shafiq, Secretary General PAK Chamber of Commerce & Industry while talking to this scribe here on Wednesday.
“The visit has been delayed till mid October this year”, the AJKCCI official said and hoped normalcy and better sense would prevail in the best interest of all including the people of Jammu & Kashmir living across the Line of Control.
It may be added that it was the first-ever visit of any trade delegation from Jammu & Kashmir since the trans-LoC trade was commenced on October 21, 2008. A 19-member AJKCCI has already performed successful visit to Kashmir in September 2008 which led to the advent of the trans-LoC trade between the business fraternity of the Kashmir and PAK.
