Speaker inspects developmental, beautification works of River Jehlum

SRINAGAR, Aug 27: The Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Mubarak Gul today conducted extensive tour of Zerobridge to Chattabal Weir and took stock of various developmental and beautification works taken up by several departments along both banks of River Jhelum.
The concerned officers appraised the Speaker about the progress of different worksalong the river banks.
The Speaker directed the concerned executing agencies to gear up their field functionaries and speed up the pace of work on all on going developmental works and complete them in the stipulated time frame.
Referring to the various developmental initiatives undertaken by the present Government for ensuring sustained development of the old City Srinagar, Gul said that the steps have already been undertaken to develop the historic city on heritage pattern addingthat beautification programme along the banks of River Jhelum will also receive further attention and funds. He also asked the SMC authorities to ensure proper rehabilitation of the affected people.
While inspecting the three heritage projects Malik Sahab Sakta, Ram Mandir and Ganpath Yar costing Rs.80 lakhs, the Speaker directed Tourism Director, Kashmir to ensure completion of these projects at the earliest.
