It is with great sadness we inform you that our beloved Rantej Singh left for his heavenly abode on March 20, 2022 in USA.
Rantej was in Jammu, spent early of his childhood In England and the rest In New York where he grew up and did his schooling.
HIS childhood was marked by an Insatiable curiosity about the world around him and love for the written word and a love for sports. A keen tennis player, who captained his School Varsity team, a formidable skier who was in the school ski team, he was also a music lover who played the Trumpet for the school band and Tabla at the Gurudwara. With all this going on, he still found time to excel in academics and was a member of the National Honor Society and recipient of the President’s Award For Outstanding Academic Excellence. After finishing High School, he went to NYU for college, from where he graduated in 2016.
Though Rantej only spent a little under 28 years on this earth, he nevertheless led a very meaningful life which was steeped in his religious and cultural ethos. A keen proponent of Seva, he started volunteering while in school and spent time Habitat for Humanity, building houses for the underprivileged. In addition to volunteering in hospitals and in Nursing Homes. He continued to do so in college and was involved the local Sikh Student Association, mentoring the younger students in addition to staying involved in raising the cultural awareness.
Along with academics, he immersed himself in campus life, joined a fraternity and also joined the distinguished and celebrated NYU Bhangra team which he captained later.
His friends, co-workers and bosses uniformly describe him as a man of sharp and dry wit, a strong work ethic, possessed a keen intellect and was kind, compassionate and always made it a point to be there for his friends and colleagues.
He soared high in his professional life, getting the coveted CFA and working for leading investment banks in the world including Goldman Sachs and Point 72.
A true believer in nishkaam seva, he did tithe and gave fixed portion his income to charity on a regular basis, a fact we are only discovering now, for he never ever shared tils with anyone. Knowing him well, we are sure he isn't too pleased about us telling everyone about this. He did live a life of humility, modesty and compassion which, we, his family would try to emulate.
Yet, at the end of the day, he was his Mama’s boy at heart and loved being pampered by tv, for she was the one who would feed him his favorite food with her own hands, while he to his game.
He leaves behind a family, distraught at his absence but proud of his accomplishments.
We take some solace in the thought that perhaps the Heavens needed him more than us earthlings, The hallways and gardens of Heaven must be reverberating with the sound of his laughter and the beats of his favorite Punjabi music.
He Is sorely missed by his Dadi and Dadu (Updesh Kaur and S Gurmukh Singh) his sister Sahiba Singh, his Mom & Dad (Indu and I P Singh) Bhuji and Phuphu (Drs Harindra & Amarjeet Singh) Tai and Taa (Pikka & M P Singh) Vaddi Mami & Mamu (Anu and B B Talwar) Choti Mami & Mamu (Anju & col K B Talwar) and rest of his family and his friends.
To commemorate and celebrate his 'life, Kirtan and Antim Ardas will be held at Baba Fateh Singhji Gurdwara, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu on August 5, 2022 from 4.30 PM to 6.00 PM.
