Engineer arrested in bribe net

SRINAGAR, Mar 03: Anti-Corruption Bureau on Thursday arrested a junior engineer while demanding and accepting bribe in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
“Anti-Corruption Bureau received a complaint wherein the complainant alleged that they received allotment of work titled construction of retaining wall and fencing around Dargah near Gani Masjid Karhama under ADP/PRI on estimated cost of 1.90 lakh,” ACB said in a statement.
The work was completed and bills were to be prepared, it said. “Tassaduq Riyaz, Junior Engineer, Rural Development Department (REW), Block Harduabora, Tehsil Karhama, District Baramulla was demanding Rs. 5000 for preparing of bills of work done by the complainant,” the ACB said, adding, “Upon receiving the instant complaint prima facie offence U/S 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 was found made out.” Consequently, case FIR No. 08/2022 was registered at P/S ACB Baramulla and investigation taken up.
