Kerala accounts for most deaths in 24 hours

NEW DELHI, Oct 27: India on Wednesday recorded 585 Coronavirus fatalities in the past 24 hours ending at 8 AM, upward from the previous day's 356, with Kerala alone accounting for the most deaths at 482, followed by Maharashtra 32.

Goa that was recording no deaths for many days on Wednesday recorded four deaths in a day. West Bengal had the third highest deaths at 15 after Maharashtra's 32, followed by Mizoram 8, Karnataka 7, Andhra Pradesh 6, Odisha and Goa four each and Assam 3.

India recorded 13,451 fresh Covid-19 cases in 24 hours, 1023 more than the previous day, increasing the total cases in the country to 3.42 crore, though 3.36 crore of them recovered while 4,55,653 succumbed to death. The recovery rate stood at 98.19%, with 14,021 recovering in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate is the highest since March 2020.

The active caseload was further down to 1,62,661, a drop of 1152 cases in a day. It is the lowest in 242 days. Daily positivity rate at 1.03% was less than 2% for the last 23 days and weekly positivity rate at 1.22% was less than 2% for the last 23 days.

The national vaccination stood at 103.53 crore, with 55.89 lakh administered the vaccine doses in the past 24 hours. As many as 60.32 crore people have been tested for the virus, 13.06 lakh of them in the past 24 hours.
