Covid cases & deaths slightly up

NEW DELHI, Oct 13: After a continuous fall in the daily Covid-19 infections, they were slightly up at 15,823 on Wednesday, a 10.5% increase over the previous day's lowest tally of 13,313 in over seven months, while the day's deaths also went up to 226 as against 181 on Tuesday, Kerala contributing 106 of them and Maharashtra second with 43 deaths.

The total infections in the country have gone up to 3,40,01,743 while the death count has increased to 4,51,189 and the recoveries up to 3,33,42,901. The active caseload at present is 2,07,653, which is 0.61% of the total infections and the lowest in 214 days.

The cumulative vaccination in the country reached 96.44 crore, with 50.64 lakh people getting the vaccine doses in the past 24 hours. A total of 13.25 lakh tests were conducted in 24 hours, pushing up the total tests to 58.64 crore.

The national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.06%, highest since March 2020. At least 22,844 recoveries in the last 24 hours took the total number of recoveries to 3,33,42,901 in India.
