Release Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir before Ramadhan: MMU

SRINAGAR, Apr 8: Muttaheda Majlis-e-Ulema, a forum of religious bodies of Kashmir comprising of the “Statured Scholars” on Thursday organised a meeting and demanded the release of head priest of Kashmir Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Ahead of holy month of Ramadhan.
On sidelines of the meeting, while talking to Media persons, they said, “feigning every sectarian difference and representing all the Muslims of Jammu & Kashmir, we are appealing the concerned administration to release Head Priest of Kashmir Mirwaiz Umar Farooq from arbitrary detention as it is equally unlawful and immoral”.
They added that the whole Muslim community is aggrieved and anguished over the continuous home detention of Mirwaiz.
“It has hurt the religious sentiments of Kashmiri Muslims as the pulpit of Historical Jamia Masjid Mosque has fallen silent” they rued.
They appealed to every political, social and religious organization to demand for the release of Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir.
At last, they passed a resolution and demanded that Mirwaiz should be released so that he can perform his religious duties and they also appealed Imams to raise their voice in Friday sermons to stress for the release of head cleric.
During this occasion head of KarwaniIslami Maulana Ghulam Rasool Hami, Rector Dar-ul-UloomRahemiyah Bandipora Maulana Rehmatullah Mir, Maulana Mohammad ShowkatKeing, Masroor Abbas Ansari, Mufti Mohammad Yaqoob Baba Al-Madni and other religious scholars were present.
