3 security men hurt in grenade attack in Sopore

SRINAGAR, Oct 4: At least three paramilitary CRPF persons were injured on Thursday after suspected militants lobbed the hand grenade towards their bunker in Sopore town of North Kashmir.
Eye witnesses said that at around 4 pm unknown persons attacked the CRPF 179 battalion stationed Plaza hotel near bus stand after hurling a grenade towards it. The grenade according to witnesses exploded into the lawn of picket injuring three security personals.
However, following the attack panic gripped the area with people running helter skelter.
The shopkeepers pulled down the shutters of their shops and also ran for their lives.
All the three injured were rushed to Sub District Hospital Sopore where doctors administrated them with first aid and discharged after sometime. All the three have received the minor injuries and have been identified as Guatam Sharma, Barsoo Inder Koul and Rajesh Burman.
Meanwhile, the police spokesman here said that unknown militants hurled a grenade at CRPF 179 BN stationed in Hotel Plaza near Bus Stand Sopore, resulting in injuries to three CRPF personals. All the injured were shifted to Hospital for treatment.
Sopore Police has registered a case and investigation is on.
