Unabated continue the road accidents

Kashmir Times. Dated: 10/5/2012 1:18:50 AM

Dear Editor,
According to news report in one of the Dailies’, there have been eight road casualties and amongst them two are already dead. Newspapers are full of these stories whereby the accidents continue to happen throughout the length and breadth of the State with increasing numbers. Even after one complains, nothing much seems to happen, for if that would have been the case, the authorities in the Transport Department would have taken the required steps a long time back.
But, it is a known fact that more than the Deptt, it is the way the drivers of these vehicles commit mistakes resulting in the loss of precious lives on a regular basis. Another factor behind the incidents like these, are the increasing number of vehicles on the roads which is a given that something or other might happen. Plus, the Deptt here is not that advanced in comparison to other countries of the world which results in the obvious. It seems ridiculous in the presence of an international Airport at one of the cities in the State. Authorities surely must do something about this to arrest the unabated number of casualties on the roads.
