Village Guards demands enhanced salaries; Organise strong protest at Srinagar Press Enclave

SRINAGAR, Nov 21: A large number of Village Guards (Village Chowkidars) under the banner of Village Guards Association staged a strong protest demonstration at Press enclave Srinagar in support of their demands. All J&K Village Guard Association held a protest demonstration at Lal Chowk Srinagar on Saturday morning headed by Bashir Ahmad Sheikh of Dooru Islamabad.
While talking to media persons Bashir demanded that their salary should be increased from 1500 to 15000 Rs. He added that the inflation is very and they cannot make both the ends meet due to worst financial condition.
The villages guards claimed that the salary is other states of India like 7,000 in Chandigarh and 7,000 Rs in Haryana, he lamented that with the 15,00 rupees, they can’t even pay the school fee of their wards.
They sought the intervention of LG administration in increasing of their honorarium.
They added that they are working tirelessly for the welfare of the people and they have put their lives at stake during the Covid lockdown, they still claimed that the administration have turned deaf ear towards them and they warned the administration in case their demands aren’t met they will come on the streets along with their families.
