K K Sharma resigns as Advisor to LG, appointed State Election Commissioner

SRINAGAR, Oct 30: Kewal Kumar Sharma, who was an Advisor to Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha resigned from his post on Friday as he was appointed the State Election Commissioner.
KK Sharma, a 1983 retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre was today appointed as State Election Commissioner.
Government spokesperson, Rohit Kansal, in a tweet said: “KK Sharma resigns as advisor to Lieutenant Governor of J&K; appointed State Election Commissioner.”
In November 2018, Sharma was appointed as an Advisor to the Governor of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, Satya Pal Malik.
Following the creation of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, he was also an Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu and then the current Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
In February 2020, he was appointed as the chairperson of the JK Board of Technical Education.
During his service career spanning over 30 years, Sharma has held various positions including Advisor to the Administrator of Chandigarh, Chief Secretary of Goa and Chief Secretary of Delhi after which he was shifted to the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development as a secretary before his retirement.
