NEW DELHI, Jun 30: Deposition of BJP patriarch and former deputy PM Lal Krishna Advani (92) slated on Tuesday in Lucknow through video conferencing in the Babri Mosque demolition conspiracy case was put off and the video hearing of former Union Minister Murli Manohar Joshi (86) scheduled on Wednesday is also postponed.
Both were to appear through video-conferencing as accused in the case by pleading the risk of travelling to Lucknow from Delhi due to the government's advisory on the senior citizens not venture out of home because of the coronavirus.
Special CBI Judge Surendra Kumar Yadav, who is hearing the case, has not fixed new dates for recording their statements. He was to hold the hearing in the district court campus in Lucknow, but the entire campus was shut down on Monday for two days by District Just Anil Kumar Ojha, after a lawyer tested positive of the Covid-19.
On Monday, Durga Vahini founder Sadhvi Rithambara, who was in the front of the mosque demolition in 1992, appeared personally before the court and denied her involvement in the demolition, claiming that she has been framed.
