Better treatment should be adopted

Dear Editor,
It is noteworthy that the Government of India on Monday banned 59 applications, most of them popular Chinese applications such as TikTok, Shareit, Mi Video Call, Club Factory and Cam Scanner, citing threat to national security and sovereignty. The ban comes amid continuing tensions on the border between India and China and covers a variety of applications from e-commerce to gaming, social media, browsers, instant messaging and file sharing. However, I would like to express my views that these measures are reactionist in nature. These do not change our fundamental strategies to either seek self-reliance or security from threats of any kind, including cyber. Our inclination for exotic goods and technology is already part of our veins and everyday lives. Temporary measures can't solve our problems. We need to look for comprehensive and futuristic solutions. And at this stage of global civilisation no nation can move and progress in isolation from others.
