‘J&K records 4th death due to Covid-19 pandemic': More 24 tested positive in Kashmir, total 184 in J&K

JAMMU, Apr 9: There has been continuous increase for the fifth day in the number of positive cases for COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir with government informing that more 24 have been tested positive on Thursday.
The government spokesman, Rohit Kansal informed that 24 more persons have been tested positive in Kashmir, taking the total toll of positive cases across Valley to 152.
The government spokesman also informed that the total number of positive cases across Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory has mounted 184, saying that 24 who have been tested positive today are all contacts of those found positive already.
“24 more positive in Kashmir. Total 184. 32 in Jammu, 152 in Kashmir. All are contacts. A result of aggressive testing," Kansal tweeted.
'The increase in detection of positive cases in the Union Territory is a result of aggressive testing,' he said.
The number of positive cases has been steadily increasing in the valley over the past one week.
While four patients have died in Jammu and Kashmir, six have recovered, officials said.
The officials said aggressive contact tracing of the new cases has been started while some new areas have been declared red zones in Srinagar following the detection of fresh cases.
More than 37,000 people have been kept under surveillance, including 9,200 who are either in government established quarantine facilities or home isolation, they said.
J&K reported its fourth Covid-19 death as a 61-year-old woman from Udhampur district of Jammu division died after she was tested positive for the virus.
“61yrs old female patient from Udhampur passed away at GMC Jammu; tested positive for Corona; reported to be suffering from Arthritis and bedridden. Contacts being traced”.
The woman is first COVID-19 death in Jammu region and fourth in JK as earlier all three COVID-19 deaths took place in the valley.
In J&K that after the diagnostic reports of five suspected persons, who were questioned in the Cyber Cell, turned out to be positive, the authorities immediately put to quarantine a Deputy Superintendent of Police, three Inspectors, two Sub Inspectors and four other members of the staff, as they came in direct contact with them.
Reportedly, the suspects had been summoned for questioning to ascertain their travel details and contacts.
However, after the District Administration Jammu has noticed that more and more positive cases coming in few zones of Jammu, the District Administration sealed Janipur, Sarwal, Bathandi, Sujwaan, Trikura Nagar and their adjoining areas as a preventive measure. The people are advised not to enter in these areas.
With increasing in COVID-19 patients, Kashmir authorities have declared over 45 areas ‘Red Zones’ and 160 ‘Buffer Zones’ across Kashmir to contain the deadly virus.
In Srinagar, areas which have been declared ‘Red Zones” are Ahmadnagar, Lalbazaar, Hawal, Nishat, Khayam, Iddgah, Goripora, Chattabal, Hyderpora, Bemina, Jawahar Nagar, Natipora, Lasjan, Nowshera, Hawal and Ahmad Nagar.
While the ‘Red Buffer Zones’ areas include: Sheikh Alam Colony, Alamdar Colony, Hakbazar, Jogiwan, Rehman Colony, Zabarwan Colony Brein, Khayam, Bilal Colony, Tangbagh, Nowpora, Khankhan Dalgate, Bhishamber Nagar, Bantibagh, Rathpora, Wanganpora, Ganderpora, Waniyaar, Cement Bridge Noorbagh, Aalis Masjid Tengbagh, Bagwanpora, Sakidafar, Shaheen Mohalla Noorbagh, Palpora, Shanglipora, Pamposh Colony, Chattabal, Shah Anwar Colony, Alfarooq Colony Bemina, Iqbalabad, Natipora and Zoonimar.
Similarly others “Red Zone and Buffer Zone” areas include in other parts of Kashmir are Waskura, Kharbagh Batwina, SK Bala Chewa Ajas C Chandergeer, Parry Mohalla, Bandipora Kunon Gundikesar, Gundi Dachina, Madwan, Hakbara, Pethlot, Gund Jehageer Naidkhai, Gundpreng Rakhi Hajin, Hakbara, Arin, Madar, Gamroo, Madar, Brar, Argam, Argam, Shopian, Sedow, Ramnagri, Sindo, Sharmal, Chotipora, Saidpora Bala, Check Mirzapor, Asmshipora, Shamaipora, Reshnagri, Pashpora, Tukroo, Balpora, Poterwal, Wathoo, Vehil, Chatawatan, Kachdora, Hanjipora, Wathoora, Kandajan, Chrar-i-Sharief, Soibugh, Gopalpora, Hanjigund, Batapora, Zoloo, Khaigam, Darwin, Nowgam, Wasimarg, Zinpanchaal, Rakhai, Hapatkara, Zaloosa and Pymus.
In Baramulla, these areas are: Sulinda, Tangmarg, Uri, Qazipora Iqbal Colony, Sulanda, Chanpora, Qazipora, Kampora, Kralpora, Kilwara, Sawan, Ferozpora, Hardmadam, Sonlipora and Tangmarg Town.
While in Pulwama, among these areas are Khaigam Rajpora, Sangerwani, Abhama, Gudoora Pinglena, Chandgam, Parigam, Pakherpora, Kanidajan, Sonbanjar, Kumar Mohalla, Wasanmarg.
And in Kupwars, ITI Handwara and Baghbela have been declared ‘Red Zones’.
“People have been advised not to enter into these areas,” an official said.
According to COVID 19 media bulletin, in Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir till date 40336 no. of travellers and persons in contact with suspected/positive cases have been put under surveillance, 8494 in Home Quarantine (including facilities operated by Govt.), 130 in Hospital Isolation, 518 in Hospital Quarantine, 23364 in Home surveillance, 7830 completed their 28 days surveillance period. 2269 samples have been sent for testing, 2116 negative, 139 tested positive (130 Active Positive, 06 recovered, 03 Deaths), and 14 reports are awaited. 14 new positive cases have been reported in UT since our last update yesterday 03 have been reported from Jammu Division & 11 from Kashmir Division. Further 02 more COVID-19 positive patients have recovered and have been discharged from SKIMS, Soura today (08 April, 2020; 5:00 PM).
People are requested to stay indoors, strictly implement social distancing measures, disclose recent travel history to COVID-19 affected countries and report any contact with positive cases voluntarily.
3. General public is advised to avoid unnecessary visit to hospitals, in case anyone develops fever, cough and difficulty in breathing, seek medical advice promptly. People should call on Covid-19 helpline Nos. so that they can be provided correct medical advice and directed to the right health facility, if needed.
In case of any emergency people can avail free ambulance services 24x7 at their door steps by calling on toll free No. 108. Pregnant women and sick infants can avail free ambulance services by dialling toll free No. 102.
