35 arrested for violating lockdown orders: Police

SRINAGAR, Apr 2: Police in Handwara and Awantipora have booked 35 persons besides, six shops were also seized in Handwara for violating lockdown orders.
“In the jurisdiction of police station Awantipora, seven persons have been arrested by police for violating the government prohibitory orders over COVID-19,” said a police spokesman.
“Accordingly case FIR No. 40/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered at police station Awantipora and investigation has been taken up,” he said.
The spokesman added that similarly, Handwara police has arrested 28 persons who were violating government orders. In the jurisdiction of police station Handwara case FIR No. 98/2020 under the relevant section of the law has been registered against seven persons who were found violating the orders imposed by District Magistrate U/s 144 CrPC, he added.
“In the jurisdiction of Police station Vilgam, 15 persons have been arrested by police for violating the Government prohibitory orders over
“In the jurisdiction of police station Kralgund, police along with magistrate sealed six shops and arrested the shopkeepers for violating the prohibitory orders imposed by District Magistrate Kupwara U/s144 CrPC. Case FIR No. 20/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Kralgund and investigation taken up,” he added.
“Police have once again requested the general public to follow the restrictions imposed by government in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and those who are violating the restrictions will be dealt strictly,” said the police spokesman.
