3 members of GMC doc’s family test positive

Grave negligence and casual attitude of health deptt: Family

JAMMU, Apr 2: Father, wife, and servant among three persons of a Government Medical college Jammu’s doctor have been tested positive have contracted the disease.
The mother of the doctor, who works in the Microbiology Department in the Government Medical College Jammu, has tested negative. Two more persons are contacts of COVID-19 patients from Udhampur district.
Reports said that Microbiologist was informed on Monday that he is tested positive. Colleagues and other staff were also tested on Monday, found negative. Family of Dr. Sikander put under quarantine, no test performed.
His family members include 4 people, out of which 2 are his parents. His mother who is 67 yrs old is a diabetic, heart patient and is on a single kidney. His father is also 75-year old Retd SSP of J&K police.
Family told that on Tuesday they requested everyone that their samples should be taken for test. The PSO of the retd. SSP was tested on Tuesday but the family was neglected.
Even the infected Microbiologist himself requested that samples of his family should be collected as soon as possible keeping in view their old age and medical history.
But no test was performed. On Wednesday when the matter took some light in media, the tests were performed and 3 members were found positive. The treatment which could have been started 3 days ago, if tests were performed on time.
Who is responsible for such negligence? What guidelines the health department is following? Only excuses that the test will be done only after viral load¸ said family members.
