JAMMU, Apr 1: The total number of coronavirus positive cases in J&K jumped further to 62 while raising fears of community transmission on Wednesday.
Seven more patients have tested positive for the Coronavirus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 62, the official spokesman said.
“#COVID19 cases have risen to 62 in Jammu & Kashmir out which 58 are active cases. While 58 of the active cases have been reported in Kashmir division, 10 are in Jammu. 17041 people are under active surveillance,” news agency ANI quoted Rohit Kansal, Principal Secretary (Planning), J&K Administration as saying.

As of now, J&K has reported 62 cases, of which two persons have died while two have recovered. As many as 50 cases have been reported in the Kashmir division while twelve cases were reported from Jammu.
Eight villages in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur have been declared as red zones after it was found that 10 people from the district had attended the Tablighi Jamaat religious congregation in Delhi's Nizamuddin, officials said on Wednesday.
They have been traced and sent to quarantine, officials said, adding that two of them have tested positive for COVID-19.
"After some people tested positive, Megani area and its surrounding villages have been declared as red zones," District Magistrate of Udhampur, Piyush Singla said.
The villages include Kotli Paie, Chopra Shop, Rehambal, Megiyot, Rakh Sansu, More Duggar, Padam and Jib, he said.
"The entire area has been sealed and people have been asked not to make any movement," he said.
Singla said nearly 100 health professionals have been sent to the area to trace those who may have come in contact with the ten people so that necessary action can be taken.
Udhampur district has been completely sealed and all entry and exit points have been blocked as per the directions, he said, adding only vehicles of essential services and some vehicles of SRTC will be allowed on the highway.
As per Media Bulletin on Novel Corona Virus (Covid-19), In Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir till date 11,644 no. of travellers and persons in contact with suspected / positive cases have been put under surveillance out of which 355 are in Hospital Isolation & Hospital Quarantine. 722 samples have been sent for testing, 659 negative, 48 (Forty Eight) tested positive (44 Active Positive, 02 recovered, 02 Deaths), 15 reports awaited. 10 new positive cases have been reported today, 3 from Jammu Division & 07 from Kashmir Division (30 March, 2020; 7:00 PM).

Public in general is therefore advised to avoid un-necessary travel; avoid crowded places and large gatherings, do not spit in public.
