Safai Karamcharis expresses gratitude to Minster for amending rules

SRINAGAR, Aug 1: A delegation of Urban Local Bodies Safai Karamcharis from Jammu division today called on the Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies, Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora and expressed their gratitude for issuing notification with regard to the amendment in Schedule II of the Jammu and Kashmir Urban Local Body Institutions (Management) Service Recruitment Rules, 2008.
According to the new amendments, the method of recruitment will be 100 per cent from amongst the community of Safaiwallas. The new set of rules is beneficial for the Safai Karmacharies and aimed at to safeguard their service interests. The employees extended their wholehearted support to the Government in providing best services. They expressed special thanks to the Minister for addressing their long outstanding issues.
The Minister while interacting with the delegation assured that their other pending demands would also be examined on priority by the Government and appropriate decisions taken on merit. He said Government was already aware about their problems and all necessary steps will be taken to mitigate them in a phased manner. He said Safai Karamcharies are the vital tool in the society which are responsible for the sanitation of cities, towns and government offices, therefore, their role becomes all the most important and Government will take all required steps for their welfare and dignity.
The members who met the Minister, included Pradhan Sawan Cheeta, Chairman, Aziz Mohammad, Kishtwar, Vice President, Tarseem Masih, Vijaypur, Darshan Masih, Nagari Parol Kathua and Urban Local Bodies SafaiKramcharies Union, Division Jammu.
